Tech women face SIUE Saturday, game time moved up to 11 AM
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Tennessee Tech’s record in the Ohio Valley Conference is misleading. With a 3-6 mark in league play, the Golden Eagles need some momentum heading into the midway point of the conference race. After all, Tech is just four points separated from six victories in the conference. Six wins would put the Golden Eagles in a tie for third well within striking distance – and Tech is just points from being right there.

There's no hitting the panic button yet as there is still work to be done in what has been a pretty competitive league this season. As the race to Evansville heats up, there's still time for the Golden Eagles to make a run and prepare for the tournament.
Tech is coming out confident, determined and out for vengeance.
It starts Saturday at SIUE.
Note, with the anticipated winter weather, Saturday's game time has been pushed up two hours with tipoff against the Cougars now at 11 a.m. Dylan Vazzano and Frank Harrell will have the call on 106.1 The Eagle, while the game will also be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
SIUE is certainly no slouch. The Cougars proved that Thursday night as they picked up a decisive 63-41 victory over Tennessee State. SIUE drained 10 3-pointers, including five from Macy Silvey, who – with Lauren Miller – led the team with 15 points each.
The Cougars (9-10 overall, 2-7 OVC) average 61.6 points a game, while allowing 57.6. Miller leads the team with a 12.5-point average, followed by Kiyoko Proctor with 12.1 points per game. Syanne Mohamed leads the team in rebounds with 8.2 per game and 14 blocks, while Miller has a team-best 52 assists. Proctor leads the team in steals with 31.
As a team, SIUE is shooting .386 from the field, .310 from long-range and .644 from the line. They average 6.7 3-pointers and 10.5 free throws made per game.
The win over TSU snapped a seven-game losing streak – the Cougars' first win since beating Eastern Illinois on Dec. 18.
Tech is looking to shake off its own six-game losing streak.
As a team, the Golden Eagles (10-8 overall) are averaging 67.3 points, while allowing 63.2 a game. Tech is shooting .378 from the field, .698 from 3 and .698 from the stripe, while averaging 7.1 3-pointers and 14.7 free throws a game.
Reghan Grimes leads a trio of double-digit scorers with a 14.3-point average, followed by Chloe Larry (12.9) and Reagan Hurst (12.0). Cam Mathews is close behind at 9.7, followed by LaReesha Cawthorn at 8.3.
Grimes leads the team in assists with 49, while Cawthorn leads the team in rebounds (9.7 per game), steals (31) and blocks (23).
Following Saturday's matinee, Tech is scheduled to travel to Nashville on Tuesday to take on Tennessee State – weather permitting. The Golden Eagles return home next Saturday to take on Little Rock.
