Cawthorn named OVC Freshman of the Week
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech freshman LaReesha Cawthorn had a strong week for the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team, earning her third Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honor and fourth overall on Tuesday. For the week, the Franklin, Ky., native averaged a double-double with 10.5 points and 12.5 rebounds. She had 21 total points and 25 total rebounds with 14 offensive caroms. She also recorded six blocks and five steals.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech freshman LaReesha Cawthorn had a strong week for the Golden Eagle women's basketball team, earning her third Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honor and fourth overall on Tuesday.
For the week, the Franklin, Ky., native averaged a double-double with 10.5 points and 12.5 rebounds. She had 21 total points and 25 total rebounds with 14 offensive caroms. She also recorded six blocks and five steals.
She collected her third career double-double on Thursday in the overtime loss to Southern Indiana as Cawthorn scored 14 points with 16 rebounds – 11 on the offensive side to help the Golden Eagles collect 20 second-chance points. She also had three steals and a block.
Against Morehead State, Cawthorn scored seven points with nine rebounds, two steals and five blocks.
It is the sixth OVC weekly honor collected by a Golden Eagle player this season.
For the year, Cawthorn is averaging 8.2 points and 9.4 rebounds in her rookie campaign, posting 13 assists, 23 blocks and 29 steals, leading the Golden Eagles in rebounds (160), blocks and steals.
Cawthorn currently ranks 10th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game at 4.1 – trailing national leader Rhema Collins from Florida International. She ranks second in the conference and 50th nationally in rebounds, trailing league leader Mia Nicastro (176) from Western Illinois and Eastern Washington's Kourtney Grossman (239). Cawthorn is also 36th nationally in rebounds per game.
Sophomore Chloe Larry was also named a Notable Performer by the league after averaging 20.5 points and 4.0 rebounds with five assists, three steals and a block during the week.
The Golden Eagles return to action this week as they travel to Lindenwood on Thursday, SIUE on Saturday and to Tennessee State next Tuesday. Tech returns home on Jan. 31 against Little Rock.
