COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following a remarkable 2024-25 season that resulted in an NCAA Tournament appearance against national powerhouse South Carolina, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team is once again embracing elite competition in its upcoming campaign.
The Golden Eagles will continue to challenge themselves in 2025-26 with a demanding non-conference slate that features a home matchup with longtime rival Middle Tennessee and a cross-country trip to face USC in Los Angeles.
"Our early schedule is going to test us—and that's intentional," said Tech head coach Kim Rosamond. "Every challenge prepares us to compete for championships and play our best basketball when it matters most.
"We went undefeated at home last season for only the second time in program history and have now won 18 straight games at The Hoop. Our fans have played a huge role in that success. But we're not just defending a streak—we're building something bigger. As momentum continues to grow around women's basketball nationwide, we want that same energy in Cookeville. Our goal is to make The Hoop one of the most electric environments in college basketball, and we need our fans to help us move the needle."
The season tips off with an exhibition game against Tennessee Wesleyan on October 29 at the Hooper Eblen Center, followed by the regular season opener on November 3 against the University of the Cumberlands.
Tech will then travel to Jackson, Mississippi, for a rematch with Jackson State on November 7. The Golden Eagles claimed a dominant 84-56 win in last year's contest in Cookeville.
Action returns to the Eblen Center as the Golden Eagles host the Blue Raiders on November 11. Middle Tennessee went 26-9 last season, reaching the Conference USA championship game and the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament.
On November 15, Tech travels to Atlanta to face Kennesaw State before returning home to host in-state rival East Tennessee State on November 20.
A marquee matchup follows as the Golden Eagles head west to Los Angeles to face USC on November 25. The Trojans, led by national standouts Juju Watkins and Kiki Iriafen, went 31-4 last season and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before falling to UConn.
The Golden Eagles will remain in Cookeville throughout December with six consecutive home games, including the final three non-conference contests and the first three matchups of Ohio Valley Conference play.
The non-conference homestand includes Lipscomb on December 1, Samford for the annual Education Day game on December 4, and Stephens College on December 13. Lipscomb reached the ASUN semifinals and earned a WNIT berth, while Tech edged Samford 79-75 last season in Birmingham. Stephens finished 21-9 and advanced to the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference Tournament.
The chase for the OVC crown begins on December 18 as the Golden Eagles look to defend both the regular-season and tournament championships. Tech will host Southeast Missouri in the Eblen Center as conference play tips off, launching a stretch of high-stakes matchups that will run in full swing through the end of February. The Ohio Valley Conference Championships will be held March 4–7 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Tennessee Tech concluded the 2024-25 season with a 26-6 overall record—the program's highest win total since 1989-90 and the fourth-most in school history. The Golden Eagles went 18-2 in conference play, tying the OVC record for most league wins, and produced a 17-game winning streak that extended into the NCAA Tournament.
Tech went 14-0 at home, completing just the second undefeated home season in program history. The team captured both the OVC regular-season and tournament championships for the first time in 25 years and earned its 12th NCAA Tournament berth.
With six players averaging double figures, the Golden Eagles reached another milestone with their 500th OVC win, becoming the first program in conference history to achieve the feat.
Tennessee Tech has now competed in three of the last four OVC Tournament championship games, winning two titles and earning two NCAA Tournament appearances. The program continues to build on a legacy of success, now boasting 1,058 all-time wins (22nd among Division I programs) and 513 OVC victories—the most in conference history.
