A Tradition Built on Legacy
The "Maintain the Tradition" Free Throw Fundraiser has been a staple of Golden Eagle Basketball for decades, originally established under legendary head coach Bill Worrell as a way to unite the Tennessee Tech Women's Basketball family — players, alumni, and supporters — in a shared commitment to excellence.
Coach Worrell, who guided the Golden Eagles through an era of championships and sustained dominance, launched the event to celebrate the program's proud history and ensure resources were in place to keep that tradition strong.
"Coach Marynell Meadors and Coach Bill Worrell built the foundation of Tennessee Tech Women's Basketball," said Head Coach Kim Rosamond. "Their commitment to excellence, discipline, and pride created a legacy that every generation of Golden Eagles has worked to uphold. Maintain the Tradition is about honoring that foundation and ensuring it continues to grow stronger with each team that wears 'Tech' across its chest."
How to Participate
The event directly supports TTU Women's Basketball student-athletes, funding vital areas such as travel, equipment, player development, and championship experiences.
There are two easy ways to participate:
1. Pledge Per Made Free Throw – Choose your favorite player and pledge an amount per made shot: 25¢, 50¢, $1, $5, $10, or any amount you choose. Each player will shoot 100 free throws. Example: A $1-per-made-shot pledge equals $50 if a player makes 50 free throws.
2. Make a Direct Contribution – Support the program with a one-time gift of any amount.
A pledge form and team roster are available for convenience. Checks should be made payable to the Tennessee Tech Foundation, with "TTU Women's Basketball" in the memo line. Gifts should be submitted by November 25. Questions can be directed to Coach Allison Clark at amclark@tntech.edu.
Continuing the Golden Eagle Standard
"Your support is the heartbeat of this program — in the stands, in the community, and in shaping the experience of every young woman who represents Tennessee Tech," Rosamond added. "Maintain the Tradition isn't just about basketball — it's about people, pride, and the shared responsibility of carrying forward something truly special."
Tennessee Tech officially opens the 2025–26 season on Monday, November 3, at 6:00 PM inside the Hooper Eblen Center, taking on the University of the Cumberlands.
Season tickets are on sale now at TTUsports.com/tickets or through the TTU Athletics Ticket Office, either in person at the Hooper Eblen Center or by calling (931) 372-3940.
