Tech women get taste of SoCon play Thursday as ETSU visits The Hoop
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech will get the first of a couple of previews of Southern Conference competition on Thursday night as the Golden Eagles will welcome ETSU to the Hooper Eblen Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 PM. Dylan Vazzano and Steve Smith will have the call on ESPN+ (subscription required), while Noah McKay and Jacob Vinson will have broadcast duties on 106.1 The Eagle.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech will get the first of a couple of previews of Southern Conference competition on Thursday night as the Golden Eagles will welcome ETSU to the Hooper Eblen Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6 PM.
Dylan Vazzano and Steve Smith will have the call on ESPN+ (subscription required), while Noah McKay and Jacob Vinson will have broadcast duties on 106.1 The Eagle.
The contest is the first of two against SoCon foes as the Golden Eagles will also host Samford on December 4 for the annual Education Day contest.
ETSU enters Thursday's game with a 1-3 record, dropping a 65-56 overtime contest against Elon in the season opener, then a 97-47 defeat to Tennessee. The Buccaneers saw a similar fate to the Golden Eagles against Kennesaw State, falling 64-63 in Johnson City.
The Bucs claimed their first victory of the season on Saturday with a 69-31 triumph over Clafin.
As a team, ETSU is averaging 58.75 points a game, while allowing 64.25 – inflated by its loss to the Lady Vols. The Bucs are shooting .351 from the floor, .270 from long-range and .671 from the line.
Jaidyn Harper stands as the team's leading scorer, averaging 9.5 points and 2.8 rebounds a game. SaBreya Monsanto is averaging 8.5 points and tied for the team-high in rebounds at 5.5 with teammate Meghan Downing, who also leads ETSU with five blocks. Paige Lyons is also averaging 8.0 points a game.
Anala Nelson leads the team in assists with 12 and is tied with Monsanto for the team lead in steals with seven.
Tech enters the match with a 3-1 record, opening the year with a 92-67 victory over the University of the Cumberlands, a 59-53 win at Jackson State and a 63-54 triumph over Middle Tennessee. Kennesaw State derailed the Golden Eagles' early streak, edging Tech 61-60 on Saturday on the road.
As a team, Tech is averaging 68.5 points a game and allowing 58.8, shooting .402 from the field, .338 from 3-point range with 6.5 made per game and .739 at the free-throw line with 17 made on average.
Reghan Grimes leads all scorers with a 17.0 ppg average to go along with a 5.3-board average. Chloe Larry is averaging 12.3 points, while freshman LaReesha Cawthorn – the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player and Freshman of the Week – is nearly averaging a double-double with 9.8 points and rebounds per game.
Reagan Hurst is just outside the double-digit club with 9.5 points per game, while Cam Mathews is averaging 8.8 points.
Mathews leads the team in assists with 13, while Cawthorn leads the team in steals and blocks with seven each.
Following Thursday's contest, Tech will then hit the road to take on USC in Los Angeles next Tuesday before returning home to take on Lipscomb on Monday, Dec. 1.
