Golden Eagles top Tennessee Wesleyan in offensive outburst
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team put on a show on Wednesday night during its preseason exhibition at the Hooper Eblen Center as the Golden Eagles topped Tennessee Wesleyan 127-52. With the game being an exhibition contest, statistics and records do not count, but if they did the result would have stood as the most points scored in the Eblen Center and the second-most points in program history behind a 133-point outing against Chattanooga in 1974.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team put on a show on Wednesday night during its preseason exhibition at the Hooper Eblen Center as the Golden Eagles topped Tennessee Wesleyan 127-52.
With the game being an exhibition contest, statistics and records do not count, but if they did the result would have stood as the most points scored in the Eblen Center and the second-most points in program history behind a 133-point outing against Chattanooga in 1974.
Six Golden Eagle players scored in double digits, led by Reghan Grimes, who was nearly perfect from the floor, going 9-for-10 and 4-for-4 at the line for 22 total points. Chloe Larry had 17 points, including 7-for-8 at the stripe, while Reagan Hurst in her return scored 14 points. Lareesha Cawthorn, Maddy Newman and Amaya Redd all scored 11 points, while Amaya Thomas had 10.
Tennessee Wesleyan started off strong, shooting 50-percent from the floor in the first quarter with a quintet of well-placed 3-pointers and led Tech by five points early on in the opening stanza, but the Golden Eagles went on a 12-point run and pulled away to take a 33-19 lead at quarter's end.
Tech then outscored the Bulldogs 29-10 in the second, 33-12 in the third and 32-11 in the fourth.
Talley Lawson led TWU with 16 points, while Jordan White had eight points.
The Golden Eagles open up the regular season on Monday night as they host the University of the Cumberlands, starting at 6 p.m.
