Jenkins has good showing in Portsmouth, named to second team
After his solid showing at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament last week, former Tech All-American Willie Jenkins hopes his next showing will also be an invite, this time to the pre-draft camp in Chicago. Jenkins was solid in his team's three games in Portsmouth, which featured 64 of the top senior college players in the country. A 6-6 native of Memphis who played mostly in the Golden Eagle frontcourt in his two seasons at Tech, played mostly at the shooting guard position, a spot he will most likely play as a professional.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn.?After his solid showing at the Portsmouth
Invitational Tournament last week, former Tech All-American Willie
Jenkins hopes his next showing will also be an invite, this time to
the pre-draft camp in Chicago. Jenkins was solid in his team's
three games in Portsmouth, which featured 64 of the top senior
college players in the country. A 6-6 native of Memphis who played

played mostly at the shooting guard position, a spot he will most

Jenkins averaged 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists per
contest in the three-day tournament, and for his efforts was named
to the All-Portsmouth second team.
"Willie certainly helped himself with his play in Portsmouth,"
said TTU assistant coach Dexter Williams. "He was solid on both
ends of the floor, and did a great job of finding his
teammates."
Jenkins led Tech to its third regular season championship in the
last five years in 2004-05, averaging nearly 20 points and seven
rebounds per game. He was named to the AP All-American Team, and
was named the OVC Player of the Year.
