COOKEVILLE, Tenn.--Senior forward Willie Jenkins has been named
the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He
was awarded for his performance against Miami on Dec. 23, plus his
two double-doubles in the College of Charleston Tournament against
St. Peter's and Harvard.
On December 23 in Miami, Jenkins scored a game-high 25 points,
which included going 5-of-7 from three-point range.
Nearly a week's worth of rest seemed to help Jenkins, as he scored
21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Golden Eagles opening game
of the College of Charleston Tournament against St. Peter's.
The following day against Harvard University, he scored 15 points
and grabbed 11 boards in Tech's 98-93 overtime victory.
Jenkins has three double-doubles this season, and has led the team
in scoring in nine games this season.
He leads TTU in scoring (19.5), rebounding (6.7) and three point
shooting (.460). He also ranks second in the OVC in scoring,
is fifth in rebounding, and is third in three point
shooting.
An all-around great player, Jenkins also is second on the team and
seventh in the OVC in steals (1.73).
Jenkins and the rest of his Golden Eagle teammates will open the
OVC portion of their schedule this weekend against Eastern Illinois
and Southeast Missouri in Eblen Center. Tickets for Thursday
and Saturday's games are still available. For ticket
