Tech to host Junior Sportswriter Contest at Feb. 17 doubleheader
The Tennessee Tech Sports Information Office is hosting a junior sportswriter contest on Thursday, Feb. 17, when the Tech basketball teams host Jacksonville State University in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader in Eblen Center.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech Sports Information
Office is hosting a junior sportswriter contest on Thursday, Feb.
17, when the Tech basketball teams host Jacksonville State
University in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader in Eblen
Center.
Any child in grades four through eight can enter. Check-in is from
5 until 5:30 p.m. at the program table in the front lobby of Eblen
Center. Entrants must purchase a ticket to the game and then write
a story (not to exceed 350 words) on either the women's game or the
men's game that night.
All stories will be judged on accuracy, detail and journalistic
style, with a winner selected in each grade. Winning stories will
be posted on the Tech Athletics website (TTUsports.com), and the
contest winners will be invited to sit at press row for the final
regular season home games, Tuesday, Feb. 22, against Austin Peay.
Winners will also receive free game tickets for their family for
the Feb. 22 contests.
Stories may be emailed in MS Word format to
sportsinfo@tntech.edu
or faxed to (931) 372-6139. All entries must have a
parent's name, and include the students' name, address, phone,
school name and grade. Deadline for submissions of stories is
Sunday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. Only one entry per person.

372-3940. Individual game tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for
youth and seniors.
