Golden Eagles add two to men's basketball squad for next season
The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team has added two early signees to its 2005-2006 squad. Head coach Mike Sutton announced that Francis Kabore and Eric Donnell Maben will join the Golden Eagles next fall. "We are very happy to add Francis and Donnell to our team in 2005," said Sutton. "They are both first class basketball players and people, and we look forward to adding them to our Golden Eagle family."
COOKEVILLE, Tenn.?The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team has
added two early signees to its 2005-2006 squad. Head coach Mike
Sutton announced that Francis Kabore and Eric Donnell Maben
will join the Golden Eagles next fall. "We are very happy to add
Francis and Donnell to our team in 2005," said Sutton. "They are
both first class basketball players and people, and we look forward
to adding them to our Golden Eagle family."
Kabore, a 6-foot-6 forward, will join the Golden Eagles after
transferring from Gulf Coast Community College. Currently in his
sophomore season at GCCC, Kabore has started all nine games,
averaging 6.6 points per game and 5.7 rebounds. He leads Gulf Coast
with 24 blocked shots.
Last season as a freshman, he led the team with 37 blocks, and
averaged 5.8 points per game. His 143 rebounds were the third best
on the team. He also shot 47.5 percent from the floor, which was
good for second on the team.
Maben, a 6-foot-7, 195-pound senior, comes to Tech from Covington
High School in Covington, Tennessee. A senior, he is averaging 23
points and 12 rebounds per game.
"Donnell is an outstanding and versatile player," said Sutton. "He
will be given the opportunity to contribute. He's a great person,
and he will be an ideal representative of TTU basketball."
As a junior, Maben averaged 17.3 points per game, while grabbing
10 rebounds, with four blocks and four assists per contest. For his
play, he was named team MVP and All-Conference. He was also named
to the district all-tournament team.
During his prep career, Maben has been named all-district and
all-regional each season, along with being named the Tipton County
Player of the Year for 2003-04.
