COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech Athletics Association and
Cumberland Insurance Group have organized a tailgate party prior to
Saturday's basketball doubleheader when Tennessee Tech hosts
Tennessee State.
The tailgate party is open to the public and will feature free hot
dogs, chili and drinks. The festivities will begin at 4:30
p.m. at the white tent next to the TTU tennis courts. The
tent will be open until halftime of the women's game.
The pre-game party is the latest of many special events planned
for that evening. Saturday will mark the return of Golden
Eagle football player Drew Hixon to the Tech campus for the first
time since he was critically injured in the September 11 football
contest at South Florida.
That evening is also tabbed as Men's Basketball Alumni Night where
all Golden Eagle basketball alumni are invited to the game and will
be recognized during the evening. There will also be a
student spirit contest during the games that will award $200 to the
most spirited group. The winning group must be present for
both the women's and men's games and have a sign identifying the
group.
The Golden Eaglettes will kick off the big night as they host
Tennessee State at 5:30 p.m. The Eaglettes are currently in
first place in the OVC and look to stay atop the conference
following this weekend. The men's team, unbeaten at home this
season, will begin their battle with the TSU Tigers following the
women's game and continue their run for the OVC crown.
Tickets are available at the ticket office in Eblen Center or by
calling (931) 372-3940. As always, students are admitted
free. Tech officials are encouraging fans to purchase tickets
in advance to avoid possible delays at the game.
