COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Many basketball fans in the Upper Cumberland region will have a special opportunity to watch Tennessee Tech basketball at a greatly reduced price -- tickets for selected games will be available for only one dollar.
The special county nights were successful late last season, so the athletics department is bringing them back. The nights are scheduled earlier in the season this year, as Tech officials are hoping area fans will support the teams for the first four doubleheaders of the Ohio Valley Conference schedule which take place before Tech's student body returns for Spring semester.
Residents of the selected counties can pick up "vouchers" at various locations around their county. With a voucher, fans can purchase tickets for just one dollar each.
The schedule of county nights is:
Thursday, Jan. 6 vs. Eastern Illinois -- PUTNAM COUNTY NIGHT
Saturday, Jan. 8 vs. Southeast Missouri -- OVERTON COUNTY NIGHT
Thursday, Jan. 13 vs. Morehead State -- WHITE COUNTY NIGHT
Saturday, Jan. 15 vs. Eastern Kentucky -- JACKSON COUNTY NIGHT
Thursday, Feb. 17 vs. Jacksonville State -- SMITH, DEKALB & WARREN COUNTIES
The nights were selected to take place when the high school teams in those counties were not scheduled to play, and before district tournaments begin around the area. In December, Tech hosted Pickett, Clay and Cumberland Counties.
For more information on the county nights, call the Tech Athletics Department Ticket Office at (931) 372-3940.
