The Golden Eagles (7-6, 1-0 HL) move to Memphis with a three-match winning streak in their back pocket after victories at Alabama A&M, Coastal Alabama and Southern Indiana. Tech's triumph at USI pushed the purple and gold to a 1-0 start n Horizon League play.
Oliver Dao, Alex Alvarez, Diego Munoz, Murilo Burckhardt and Ricard Garavi Yepez all carded singles nods in the conference nod at Southern Indiana.
A look at Memphis
The Tigers (8-10, 2-0 AAC) host Tech on the heels of a narrow 4-3 nod over No. 71 Florida Atlantic in a Sunday American Athletic Conference match in Boca Raton. The victory featured singles wins out of Maxime Dubouch, Obrad Markovski, Leandro Zgraggen and Keoni Puig McCallan.
Marcos Castro Fabra sits atop the Tiger leaderboard with a 7-4 solo record. The 6-foot-2 freshman out of Madrid, Spain has appeared in the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions in the singles lineup. Dubouch and Zgraggen each possess six solo nods this spring.
Obrad Markovski and Marko Milosavljevic hold the club's best doubles mark, thanks to an 8-6 tandem account this spring. The pair has most frequented the No. 3 slot with a 7-4 mark out of that place in the lineup.
Memphis' other conference triumph was a 6-1 win over UAB way back on Jan. 11 in the squad's season opener.
A look at Tennessee State
The Tigers (2-11, 1-0 Horizon League) take the trip to Cookeville following a 6-1 loss at No. 52 Tennessee on Sunday. Senior Taj Hibbert was responsible for the lone TSU point, behind a 7-5, 6-1 win over Alejandro Moreno in the No. 1 singles spot.
Tennessee State has already played a Horizon League match after topping the South Division preseason No. 1 Belmont with a 4-3 triumph in the conference opener on Mar. 21. After dropping the doubles point, TSU took home victories in four of the six singles battles to beat the Bruins. Hibbert, James Adler Germinal, Christopher Bogelin and Alexander Adamec all secured solo wins.
Tennessee State's other victory this spring was a 4-3 decision over Xavier in a win that saw the Tigers capture the doubles point before Hibbert, Nicholas Adamec and Alexander Adamec all took home singles nods.
TSU was preseason No. 3 in the Horizon League South Division.
