The Golden Eagles (3-5) will finally hit the courts in Cookeville after the club's originally scheduled home opener against UT Southern on Jan. 31 was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. Tech's Friday tussle with the Bisons will also start a season-long, four-match homestand for the purple and gold with the squad scheduled to play East Tennessee State on Mar. 3 before contending with both Saint Louis and Cumberland in a doubleheader on Mar. 8.
The Golden Eagles greet Lipscomb having won three of the last four matches for the team's first victories of the spring. Tech rattled off a three-match winning streak behind victories at Georgia State on Feb. 7, Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 19 and Furman on Feb. 20. Tech fell in its last contest in a narrow 4-3 loss to Chattanooga on Feb. 20.
Four Golden Eagles lead the club with three singles wins with Alex Alvarez, Davids Spaks, Diego Munoz and Murilo Burckhardt each collecting the trio of nods over the last four affairs. Alvarez has picked up all three of his solo triumphs in the No. 2 spot, while Spaks has done all of his damage in the No. 3 position, Munoz in the No. 4 slot and Burkhardt in No. 5.
No. 79 Alvarez and Spaks are tied with the tandem of Burckhardt and Munoz for the most doubles victories this spring thanks to three wins apiece.

The Bisons (5-4) come to Cookeville following a trip out West that saw the club go 1-2 in its three matches in Arizona. Lipscomb topped Arizona Christian, 4-1, before falling at Grand Canyon and Boise State in a neutral site meeting.
Just prior to the voyage to the Grand Canyon State, the Bisons fell at Vanderbilt to snap a four-match winning streak that featured victories over UT Southern, Austin Peay, Alabama A&M and Southern Indiana.
Henrique Ushizima leads the squad with a 6-3 singles record. The senior out of Sao Paulo, Brazil has done most of his work out of the No. 4 position where he holds a 6-2 record in that spot. Oskar Szymczak is the only other Bison with a winning solo mark behind a 5-4 account.
The Lipscomb doubles duos of Ushizima and Filippo Verdes as well as Facundo Perlov and Alex Vlahos have set the tandem standard with identical 5-2 records.
Inside the series
Friday's faceoff will mark the 40th gathering in the all-time series. Tech leads 26-13, but the Bisons edged the Golden Eagles in the last meeting with a 4-3 win on Feb. 11, 2022 in Nashville to snap a Tech four-match winning streak. The Golden Eagles have won 10 of the last 12 against their in-state counterparts.
