INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – With the start of another spring campaign rapidly approaching, the Tennessee Tech tennis team was made aware of its predicted order of finish behind Friday's release of the 2026 Horizon League Men's Tennis Preseason Poll.
The Golden Eagles were chosen to end up in second in the league's South Division with 12 total points and one first-place vote. Tech trailed only Belmont in the rankings, who registered 15 points in the poll and three first-place votes, while Cleveland State was tabbed to take the North Division for the third-straight season.
"I'm always excited to see where our program stands when the preseason picks come out," first-year Golden Eagle head coach Mark Klysner claimed. "Being picked second in our conference/division is great for our program. It shows other coaches believe we have a good team and we have earned this ranking. I believe this will also make our guys hungry to take a shot at the top spot. Anything can happen during the season, but I'm really happy with the roster we have put together for the spring and I'm anxious to get things going next week."
Tech's spring slate officially gets underway with a Wednesday, Jan. 14 meeting at Vanderbilt in the first of three matches throughout the week. The Golden Eagles will travel to Middle Tennessee on Friday, Jan. 16 before wrapping up the busy stretch with a Sunday, Jan. 18 affair at Alabama. TTU's home opener is set for Jan. 31 against UT Southern.
The Horizon League opener is scheduled for Mar. 24 at Southern Indiana in the first of six conference clashes for the purple and gold.
Tech is coming off a 1-3 league mark in 2025 following a spot in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals in 2024 and an appearance the in the championship match in 2023 in the program's first year in the conference.
