BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – It may be the offseason, but the Tennessee Tech tennis team was honored for its academic success following a stellar year in the classroom in 2024-25.
The Golden Eagles took home the OVC's Team Academic Achievement Award for the sport of men's tennis, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference. The distinction continues a trend for the purple and gold on the courts that has now seen Tech tennis capture the prestigious accolade in three of the last five years.
The OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards are presented annually in each conference-sponsored sport to the member institution's team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher.
With a combined 3.708 team GPA for the entire academic year, Tech tennis had nine student-athletes take home sports on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, announced by the league on Monday.
The squad was also recognized back in April with the TTU Athletic Department's Small Academic Team of the Year honor during the Golden Wings Awards.
