WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Tennessee Tech opened play at the 2026 OVC Men's Golf Championship on Sunday with a steady first round, carding a team score of 295 (+11) to sit sixth overall after Day 1 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Golden Eagles positioned themselves in the middle of a tightly contested leaderboard, just seven strokes outside the top three following the opening 18 holes.
Tennessee Tech was paced by a pair of consistent rounds from Nick Etherton and Alex Broyles, who each turned in a 1-over 72 to lead the squad. Both golfers sit just outside the top 10 entering the second round.
Cooper Gettler added a solid effort with a 3-over 74, while Bryson White and Haden Maxwell rounded out the team scoring with matching rounds of 6-over 77.
As a team, the Golden Eagles leaned on steady play throughout the lineup, keeping themselves within striking distance heading into Monday's action.
Little Rock leads the tournament after posting a 5-under 279, while Southern Indiana (-) and UT Martin (+3) round out the top three after the opening round.
