Maxwell and the Golden Eagles Finish 2nd in the Xavier Invitational
Haden Maxwell has finished in the Top 2 in each of his last four tournaments, taking home second and leading the Golden Eagles to a second-place finish at The Xavier Invitational hosted by Xavier at Maketewah CC in Cincinnati, Ohio.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Haden Maxwell has finished in the Top 2 in each of his last four tournaments, taking home second and leading the Golden Eagles to a second-place finish at The Xavier Invitational hosted by Xavier at Maketewah CC in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Golden Eagles shot 28 over and finished 14 shots back of Xavier (+14) in second place. Easily besting St. John's (3rd, +47), Youngstown State (4th, +48), and IU Indy (5th, +49) to round out the Top 5. Tech has finished second in each of the last three tournaments and posted its fourth Top 5 performance of the fall season.
Maxwell continues his impressive play to close the fall season with four consecutive Top 2 finishes, including back-to-back wins on Sept. 16 and Sept. 29. He finished two shots back of the winner Cayse Morgan from Xavier (-5), posting a solid 69 (-1) in the third and final round today. Maxwell finished three under with rounds of 73 (Rd 1), 65 (Rd 2), and 69 (Rd 3).
Matthew Shull had a career tournament, shooting a career-low 68 (-2) in the second round and closing with a 71 (+1) to post his first Top 5 (5th, +4) of the season. Shull moved up two spots after making three birdies during the final 18 today.
Nick Etherton climbed 14 spots today, carding a final-round 72 (+2) to finish 16 over and 39th. Cooper Gettler finished +14 to claim 31st, and Alex Broyles, competing as an individual, finished 12th with a nine-over score. Broyles made two birdies during his final-round 71 and sank seven birdies during the tournament.

Maxwell led the field with the lowest score on Par 4s (4.00), second-lowest on Par 3s (-1), was one of nine players to make an eagle (1), and sank the second-most birdies (11) among all players.
Shull tied for second in pars made with 37, leading the team, and Gettler was second on the Golden Eagles with 36 pars.
Tech as a team tied for the lowest average on Par 3s (3.23); held the second lowest average on Par 4s (4.24) and Par 5s (4.60), made the second-most pars (162), and the third most birdies (36).

The Golden Eagles finished 27 shots ahead of conference foe Morehead State (t-6, +55) and 48 shots ahead of OVC rival Southern Indiana (12, +76).
Tech closes an impressive fall campaign that saw it finish out of the Top 5 just once, a 6th in the Golfweek Fall Challenge back in early September to begin the season.
