Purple and gold place second at Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate
MORGANTON, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team turned in its top showing of the year Tuesday afternoon, delivering a runner-up finish at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in Morganton, N.C., following the third and final round of action at Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.

MORGANTON, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team turned in its top showing of the year Tuesday afternoon, delivering a runner-up finish at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in Morganton, N.C., following the third and final round of action at Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.
The Golden Eagles ended the two-day event with a score of 319 for the third round, totaling 929 overall to finish just four shots back of Wofford. The Terriers claimed the tournament title behind a score of 925, led by individual medalist Bella Kent and her 3-over 219 for the week.
Tech's Chloe Griffith placed third among the 58 golfers in the field, her second top-three finish in the team's last three events. The sophomore carded her third consecutive round of 75 to wrap up the tournament with a collective score of 225. She piled up nine consecutive pars to open the day, finishing with 14 total and one birdie.
Freshman Kailey Lane earned the top finish of her young career on Tuesday, tying for 10th behind a total score of 231. The youngster locked down a third-round 80 behind one birdie and 11 pars. Ranking in a tie for 13th with a 236, junior Kaydi Rhodes registered an 82 in the final round of play, turning in a pair of birdies.
Also tallying a round of 82 to close out the event was Sydney Branson, tying for 16th overall thanks to two more birdies and a final total of 237. Rounding out the Golden Eagle lineup, junior Lydia Baker produced an 84 with a birdie on Tuesday, finishing 35th on the leaderboard with a 247.
Competing as an individual, senior Reagan Stuke concluded action with an 84 as well, sporting a birdie along the way. The veteran totaled 243 for the tournament, tying for 26th.
The purple and gold will have one final tune-up prior to the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, heading to West Lafayette, Ind. for the Boilermaker Spring Classic. Hosted by Purdue, play will run from Sunday, Apr. 6 through Monday, Apr. 7 on the Ackerman-Allen Course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
