Purple and gold place fifth following final day of action in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team continued to show improvement from event to event on Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up play at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate with a 2024-25 season-best fifth-place finish among the 12-team field.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team continued to show improvement from event to event on Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up play at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate with a 2024-25 season-best fifth-place finish among the 12-team field.
Competing on the Highlands Course at Hampton Cove, the Golden Eagles finished off the last few holes of Monday's round two before firing the second-best score of the third and final round. Tech finished with a score of 940, backed by rounds of 310, 314, and 316. Troy claimed the tournament crown with a 907 to win by six strokes while host Samford's Gabi Nicastro earned individual medalist honors with a 4-over 220.
The purple and gold were paced by a spectacular performance from Chloe Griffith, who tied for third among the 63 golfers with a total of 224. The sophomore dropped three birdies for a 2-over 74 in round two before concluding the tournament with a 77 and one more birdie.
Kaydi Rhodes was next on the leaderboard for the Cookeville crew, locking down a 16th-place finish after compiling a score of 233. The junior posted a second-round 77 with four birdies and followed it up with a 78, collecting one final birdie and 12 pars.
Freshman Kailey Lane collected a top-25 performance after carding a three-round total of 236, ranking 22nd overall. The rookie produced rounds of 79 and 80 to close out the week, picking up three total birdies along the way.
Next for the Golden Eagles, Sydney Branson tied for 44th after tallying scores of 84 and 80 on Tuesday. Totaling 247 for the event, the junior piled up four birdies in round two and one more in the third trip around the links. Senior Regan Stuke rounded out the Tech squad, totaling 262 with scores of 88 and 90.
Tech will return to the links this Sunday, Mar. 9 by kicking off three days of action at Silver Lakes, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, for the Chris Banister Golf Classic. Hosted by Jacksonville State, the tournament will feature 54 holes and run through Tuesday, Mar. 11.
