Golden Eagle volleyball heads to Morehead State for OVC series
MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech volleyball team will be facing an interesting test Thursday and Friday as they head to Morehead State, who currently stand undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference. The homestanding Eagles, at 5-0, are technically in second place in the league standings, posted up a half-game behind Little Rock, who is at 6-0 in the OVC. Morehead State currently has a five-game winning streak, improving from a 6-5 mark in non-conference play to stand at 11-5.

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech volleyball team will be facing an interesting test Thursday and Friday as they head to Morehead State, who currently stand undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The homestanding Eagles, at 5-0, are technically in second place in the league standings, posted up a half-game behind Little Rock, who is at 6-0 in the OVC. Morehead State currently has a five-game winning streak, improving from a 6-5 mark in non-conference play to stand at 11-5.
Even more impressive is that Morehead State has swept its last four matches, posting two 3-0 wins at Lindenwood, a 3-0 win at Tennessee State and a 3-0 home win over Southern Indiana. Even in the first match against USI, the Eagles fell to the Screaming Eagles in the first set, meaning MSU has won 15 straight sets entering Thursday's contest out of 16 OVC sets played.
M.E. Hargan leads Morehead's offensive assault with 251 kills on the season, averaging 4.56 per set, while Hollan Everett has 173 (3.15 per set), Sarah Heath 134 (2.44 per set) and Amelia Nott 114 (2.07 per set). Sydney Sennett has been one of the top setters in the league, collecting 522 assists – 9.49 per set.
On the defensive side, Courtney Fitzgerald has 217 digs (3.95 per set), while Hargan has 166 (3.02 per set), Sennett 109 (1.98 per set) and Tinsley Brown 102 (1.85 per set). Bailey Brashear has a team-best 46 blocks – eight solo and 38 assisted, while Nott has 38 blocks – five solo and 33 assisted – and Everett has 11 solo and 21 assisted for 32 total.
Tennessee Tech, meanwhile, improved to 7-11 overall with a 4-2 mark in the OVC after going 3-0 and 3-1 last week against Tennessee State.
Bella Powell leads the Golden Eagles with 229 kills, averaging 3.47 per set, while Audrey Berkebile is above the century mark with 102 kills (1.96 per set). Alayna Pierce is averaging 3.77 kills per set with 98 after returning from injury. Ava Schubert has 89 and is averaging 2.23 per set. Jordan Karlen has 620 assists on the season with a 9.39 assist per set average.
Defensively, MK Roberts has 210 digs (3.18 per set), Powell 181 (2.74 per set), Karlen 153 (2.32 per set) and Ella Watford 118 (1.82 per set). Tuva Falk leads the team in blocks with 38 – two solo and 36 assists – while Jordyn Milhouse has 35 – four solo and 31 assists.
The matches, set for 6 p.m. Central on Thursday and 3 p.m. Central on Friday, will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
The Golden Eagles will return home next week as they host UT Martin.
