CHARLESTON, Ill. – Tennessee Tech saw its season come to a close on Sunday as No. 3-seeded Southern Indiana topped the No. 6-seeded Golden Eagles 3-0 in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship. Senior setter Jordan Karlen was named to the All-OVC first team, while graduate outside hitter Bella Powell was named to the second-team roster.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech showed it is still very much a force in the Ohio Valley Conference as the Golden Eagles handed league-leader Eastern Illinois its third conference loss of the season as Tech swept the Panthers 3-0 on Tuesday night. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Tennessee Tech won the first two sets and looked to be in cruise control, but Little Rock battled back, stunning the Golden Eagles in the third and fourth sets to force the decider. Even then, it took extra points in the fifth set for Tech to emerge victorious on Thursday night, winning 3-2. Tech led 14-10 in the fifth, needing just one point to end the match, but the Trojans tied the match on two straight blocks, a kill and an attack error. Dariana Valencia had a serve error to put Tech up 15-14, then A’lanae Margaritha evened things back up again with a kill.

Alayna Pierce led the way with 17 kills as she hit .500 on the night, while collecting nine digs. Karlen finished the match with two kills, 37 assists, a service ace, 22 digs and an assisted block. CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Alayna Pierce and Jordan Karlen put on a show to wrap up the season’s opening day as the Tennessee Tech volleyball team took down Murray State in a 3-0 sweep Friday afternoon at the Stacheville Challenge at Austin Peay. Pierce ended the match with 15 kills and a .294 hitting percentage, while Karlen dished out 39 of the Golden Eagles’ 44 assists – six short of her three-set record against Southern Indiana in 2022.
