2024 (Junior): Karlen started all 32 matches and all 114 sets for the purple and gold on the year… became the first setter in program history to earn All-OVC First Team accolades twice and earned a program-record seven OVC Setter of the Week honors… paced the team and the OVC while ranking sixth nationally with 11.29 assists per set and ranked second in the league and 11th in the nation with 1,287 total helpers… finished second on the Golden Eagles and fourth in the OVC with 0.33 service aces per set, totaling 38 for the season… turned in 336 total digs and 2.95 digs per set to rank second on the Tech team… ended the year with 76 kills, 45 total blocks, and 40 block assists… registered a career-high 63 helpers against Western Illinois (Oct. 4), tying for the fourth-most in a five-set, rally-scoring era match in school history… locked down a career-high five aces in the same match against WIU… delivered a career-best seven kills at UNCG (Sept. 20)… produced a season-high four blocks against Little Rock (Oct. 26)… piled up a career-high 23 digs against Little Rock (Oct. 25)… accumulated a career-best 17 double-doubles during the season, tallying at least 30 assists in 29 matches, 40 or more assists 17 times, and 50 or more helpers in eight contests… strung together four consecutive matches of 50+ assists… dropped doubles figures in digs 17 times and 15 or more digs four times… finished the season ranked second in program history with 10.39 career assists per set, fourth in school history with 3,414 careers assists, and just 100 digs shy of becoming just the second Golden Eagle setter to join the Double Grand Club.
2023 (Sophomore): Karlen took part in 28 of Tech’s 30 matches, competing in 109 of 120 total sets… led the team and ranked third in the OVC with 10.07 assists per set… also ranked fourth in the league with a team-high 1,098 assists for the season… finished second on the team with 298 digs and 2.73 digs per set… also totaled 56 kills, 19 service aces, 37 total blocks, and 36 blocks assists… registered career-highs in assists on back-to-back nights, tallying 55 in five sets at Southern Indiana (Nov. 3) before exploding for 58 in a four-set win at Southern Indiana (Nov. 4)… smashed a season-best six kills at App State (Aug. 26)… slapped down a season-high three aces against ETSU (Sept. 1)… collected a season-best 22 digs against Morehead State (Nov. 7)… produced a season-high four blocks against Lindenwood (Oct. 7) and again versus Southeast Missouri (Nov. 10)… racked up 14 double-doubles during the season locked down 30 or more assists 21 times, 40 or more assists 16 times, and 50 or more assists six times… strung together four straight matches of 50+ assists and six of eight tilts… turned in double figures in digs 14 times and 15 or more digs in six matches… finished the season ranked second in program history with a career assists per set rate of 9.92.
2022 (Freshman): Karlen competed in 30 of the team’s 31 matches, appearing in 111 of 118 sets overall… became the first player in OVC history to win both Freshman and Setter of the Year in the same season and the first Golden Eagle to win Setter of the Year… led the team and ranked second in the OVC with 1,085 assists and 9.77 assists per set, setting the Tech freshman record for assists… finished second on the team with 266 digs and 2.40 digs per set… also totaled 35 kills, 20 service aces, 44 total blocks, 42 block assists, and two solo blocks… made her collegiate debut with a whopping 49 assists and six digs in four sets versus Central Arkansas (Aug. 26)… set the program’s freshman assists record for a three-set match in the rally-scoring era with 45 against Southern Indiana (Sept. 23)… picked up her first career double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs at Missouri State (Aug. 26)… tallied a season-high 50 assists in the regular-season finale, five-set win over UT Martin (Nov. 12), adding 16 digs for a double-double… turned in a season-best three aces at #21 WKU (Sept. 16)… racked up a season-high 20 digs with 39 assists for a double-double against UT Martin (Nov. 11)… posted a season-best five total blocks at Eastern Illinois (Nov. 4)… piled up 10 double-doubles on the year… totaled 30 or more assists 21 times, 40 or more assists 11 times, and 50 or more assists once… delivered double-digit digs 10 times and 15 or more digs in four matches.
High School: Karlen was a four-year letterwinner at setter at Milton High School in Milton, Wis. for head coach Kaitlin Lundeen… a-three time captain, accumulated 2,282 assists, 197 service aces, 772 digs, 372 kills, and 114 blocks in four seasons… as a senior, delivered 645 helpers with 68 aces, 256 digs, 113 kills, and 52 blocks in 87 sets of action… earned back-to-back All-Conference First Team honors as a junior and senior… named an AAU All-American in 2018… helped lead MHS to a regional title as a freshman, distributing 597 assists with 47 aces and 158 digs in 69 sets… named Team MVP as a sophomore, junior, and senior.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – When Southern Indiana and Tennessee Tech locked horns in the regular season, the visiting team came through in both matches. So when the two teams play Sunday in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship, the trend will have to change as they square off on the campus of Eastern Illinois. The No. 6-seeded Golden Eagles will take on the No. 3-seeded Screaming Eagles on Sunday at 1 PM.
CHARLESTON, Ill. – With the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championships on the horizon, the Tennessee Tech volleyball team earned two league honors on Saturday as the conference recognized its postseason honorees. Senior setter Jordan Karlen was named to the All-OVC first team, while graduate outside hitter Bella Powell was named to the second-team roster.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Tennessee Tech won the first two sets and looked to be in cruise control, but Little Rock battled back, stunning the Golden Eagles in the third and fourth sets to force the decider. Even then, it took extra points in the fifth set for Tech to emerge victorious on Thursday night, winning 3-2. Tech led 14-10 in the fifth, needing just one point to end the match, but the Trojans tied the match on two straight blocks, a kill and an attack error. EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After a slow start, the Tennessee Tech volleyball team dropped the first set, then took the next three to take the return trip to Southern Indiana, winning 3-1. Alayna Pierce led the way with 17 kills as she hit .500 on the night, while collecting nine digs. Bella Powell had a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs, while Jordyn Milhouse had 10 kills on a .348 hitting percentage as she also collected two solo blocks and three assisted.

Karlen finished the match with two kills, 37 assists, a service ace, 22 digs and an assisted block. Roberts had 11 assists, an ace, 34 receptions and 10 digs, while Powell had 24 kills, an ace, four receptions and seven digs and Rodgers collected two kills.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Alayna Pierce and Jordan Karlen put on a show to wrap up the season’s opening day as the Tennessee Tech volleyball team took down Murray State in a 3-0 sweep Friday afternoon at the Stacheville Challenge at Austin Peay. Pierce ended the match with 15 kills and a .294 hitting percentage, while Karlen dished out 39 of the Golden Eagles’ 44 assists – six short of her three-set record against Southern Indiana in 2022.
