Golden Eagles to play first game this season against Louisiana-Monroe

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - After getting filled up on Thanksgiving dinner, the Tennessee Tech men's basketball team will look to get their fill on the court on Saturday when they play host to the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. This will be the first meeting between the two schools, and the first of two meetings this season.

Tech (3-1) will play the return game exactly one month after Saturday, when they travel to play the Warhawks on Dec. 29 in Monroe.

Tech is coming off a tough loss to East Tennessee State in the return contest from last season's ESPNU's Bracket Buster, 78-65.

The Golden Eagles are led thus far this season by several different players in each category. Senior Daniel Northern leads the team in minutes played along with averaging seven rebounds a game. He also picked up where he left off last season with 12 blocks already, averaging 3.0 per game.

Coming off the bench doesn't matter to newcomer junior DJ Lindsay as he is averaging 20.3 minutes game. He is averaging 11.0 points a game and is second on the team, behind only Northern, in rebounding with 22.

The Warhawks are coming into the game with a .500 record after a buzzer beater from Malcom Thomas gave UL-Monroe a 60-58 win over Stephen F. Austin. The team from the 18th state in the U.S. has already beaten one school from the OVC, with a season-opening 56-54 win over Morehead State.

Jarvis Hill leads the Warhawks with 15.5 points a game while connecting on seven 3-pointers. Afam Nweke leads the team on the defensive side of the glass with 24 rebounds.
