A look at Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles (0-4-1) enter Sunday's get-together fresh off the club's first result of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw against ETSU Thursday evening at Tech Soccer Field. The match featured TTU's first goal of the season behind an Ebba Melin score in the 23rd minute to put Tech ahead 1-0.
The sophomore's second-career score was made possible by a Claire Palya free kick that saw the red-shirt junior connect perfectly with Melin who headed in the feed to push the purple and gold on top. Palya's beauty of a ball was the Knoxville, Tenn. native's first career assist.
Maggie Conrad posted eight saves in the knot, pushing the senior's total to 24 stops on the season, second-most in the OVC. Conrad is third on the program's all-time wins list with 23 career victories and second in career shutouts with 17 clean sheets as a Golden Eagle.
Lucia Cuadra is the squad leader with six shots this season. The All-OVC first-teamer from a season ago led the conference with nine assists in 2024 for the second-most in a single-season in Tech history.
A look at Miami (OH)
The RedHawks (2-2-0) host Tech on the heels of a 3-0 triumph over Chicago State in the club's home opener Thursday night in Oxford. Three different RedHawks split the pipes in the win, with Katie O'Malley doing the honors in the first half before Kayla Perfect and Ava Boyd found the back of the net in the second.
The trio each tallied their first goal of the season, while Mille Cook leads the team with a pair of scores this year. Morhea Hoefen is the only RedHawk with more than one assist behind three helpers.
Junior goalkeeper Dominique Popa collected her first clean sheet of 2025, despite not having to make a save in the nod. The Odenton, Md. product has yielded six goals to go along with 11 saves this year for a 1.50 goals against average and a .647 save percentage.
Miami's other win was a 3-2 victory at Queens University on Aug. 21. The club has lost road matches at Bellarmine on Aug. 17 and at No. 16 South Carolina on Aug. 24. Both defeats were by 2-0 margins.
Inside the series
Sunday's match will mark the second meeting in the all-time series. The two clubs gathered in Cookeville on Aug. 18, 2024 in Tech's home opener in a thriller of a tilt that ended in a 2-2 stalemate. Trailing 2-1 late, Cheyenne McCloud found the back of the net in the 81st minute for the equalizing score that led the Golden Eagles to the draw.
