Golden Eagles fall at OVC leader Morehead State, 3-1
MOREHEAD, Ky. - They knew it was going to be a tough match
heading into it. It was a showdown of the number one and two in the
OVC. But it was number one Morehead State that claimed the OVC win
over the Tennessee Tech volleyball team to remain undefeated in the
conference.
Tech (8-9, 5-2 OVC) returns home next weekend when they take on
Murray State and UT Martin on Friday and Saturday. Match times are
7 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
"They are a tough team," said head coach John Blair. "We knew going
in it was going to be a battle. We missed some opportunities that
they capitalized on."
Morehead State used timely plays in the first set and claimed the
25-23 set win. But it was Tech who came back during the second set
and leveled the match up at one set apiece heading into the longer
set break.
The momentum then switched back in favor of the Eagles and claimed
the final two sets to pick up the OVC win.
Tech was lead by junior Amanda Lindgren with 13 kills. On the
defensive side of the net junior Katie Kenline set her career
record for digs in a single set with 17 in the first set and
finished with 41.
