Golden Eagles fall to Big East Champ, Louisville, 3-0
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Coming off an OVC tournament win, the
Tennessee Tech volleyball team got the OVC's bid into the NCAA
tournament and the right to play at Louisville in a regular season
challenge match before selections are to be made on Sunday
night.
The Golden Eagles were unable to carry the momentum from the OVC
tournament and fell to the Cardinals, the Big East tournament
champion, in straight sets Saturday afternoon.
"We knew it was going to be a tough match," said head coach John
Blair. "It wasn't a fluke for them to win the Big East. They played
well and we will have to play harder come tournament time."
OVC Player of the Year, sophomore Leah Meffert led the attack for
the Golden Eagles with eight kills and two blocks solo. Senior
Kappy Lang ran the offense and dished 26 assists.
The Cardinals were led by Tatyana Kolesnikova with 11 kills on .556
hitting.
Tech (19-12) will find out where it play in the NCAA tournament on
Sunday with a selection show on ESPNU at 9 p.m. To find out shortly
