Golden Eagles fall behind early, lose 5-1 to Georgia State
ATLANTA, Ga. - The Tennessee Tech soccer team opened up its
season Saturday in Atlanta, Ga. with a 5-1 loss to Georgia
State.
The Golden Eagles (0-1) were led by Katie Hoover, who scored on a
free kick with just over five minutes to play. Michelle Decker
tallied two shots in the game, and Kaitlyn Thacker got the nod at
goalkeeper, and finished with 4 saves.
Georgia State got off to a fast start taking a 3-0 lead into
halftime. The Panthers added two more goals before Hoover scored
the Golden Eagles' first goal of 2008. The Panthers out shot Tech
28 to 6.
The Golden Eagles return to action Aug. 29 when they travel to
Rock Hill, S.C. to face Winthrop, and again on Aug 31 at UNC
Charlotte, before the home opener against Appalachian State on
Sept. 5.
