Murray State wraps up OVC championship with win against Tech
Murray, Ky. -- The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles dropped their
Ohio Valley Conference finale Sunday at Murray State, 4-0. The win
gave the Racers the outright OVC regular season championship, and a
first-round bye in the conference tournament, which they will host
on Nov. 7 and 9.
The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, are awaiting final results from
around the league to find out their tournament fate.
Tech (4-13-1, 3-4-1) was alone in fifth place in the OVC standings
heading into the final day of league play, with Jacksonville State
and Eastern Illinois within striking distance close behind. A loss
or tie by either team would ensure Tech a spot in the OVC
tournament.
The Golden Eagles wrap up the 2008 regular season with a
non-conference game against Lipscomb on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The
opening round of the OVC tournament is Nov. 4.
