Tech wraps up Vanderbilt meet with two more personal marks
NASHVILLE -- Two additional personal best marks fell Saturday on Tennessee Tech's second day at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
NASHVILLE -- Two additional personal best marks fell Saturday on
Tennessee Tech's second day at the Vanderbilt Invitational. It was
a light day for the Tech women, with entries in only six individual
events and two relays.
In the 800-meter run, Dalis Connell (in photo) was Tech's second
finisher, posting a personal-best time of 2:28.98. Landry Loving
led Tech in the 800m with a time of 2L27.78, while Kendale Caldwell
narrowly missed her own PR with a time of 2:32.45.
The other PR came in the 400-meter dash, while freshman Tiara
Hymon posted a time of 1:02.97 to finish second for the Golden
Eagles. Brooklyn Kimball's time of 1:02.2 led Tech, while Brittany
Cotto was third across the line in the purple and gold, clocking a
time of 1:03.88.
Cotto led Tech in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.79,
while Hymon ran the event for the first time in her Tech career,
finishing in 1:13.72.
Madison Borden, who posted a PR in the shot put Friday, led Tech
in the discus Saturday with a long toss of 129 feet, 9 inches. Lacy
Yslas had a throw of 124 feet, seven inches for her top effort.
Two members of the men's cross country team competed in the
5,000-meter run Saturday. Sterling Smith posted a time of 16:06.40,
while Matthew Bishop finished in 16:12.51.
Tech's 4x100-meter relay team narrowly missed the school record.
The foursome of Justine Phillips, Brittany Cotto, Kelli Keck and
Chelsea Mills ran a time of 49.74 seconds. In the 4x400, the team
of Connell, Cotto, Katie Lowery and Kimball finished with a time of
4:11.59.
Tech will be in Clarksville Tuesday afternoon for the Austin Peay
Invitational, the team's final action before the OVC
Championships.
