Golden Eagle track & field team opens outdoor season at Western Carolina
The outdoor season gets underway this weekend for coach Tony Cox and the Tennessee Tech University track & field team, which is set to compete in a field of 20 schools at the Catamount Classic, hosted by Western Carolina.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The outdoor season gets underway this weekend for coach Tony Cox and the Tennessee Tech University track & field team, which is set to compete in a field of 20 schools at the 2013 Beynon Sports Catamount Classic, hosted by Western Carolina.
Twenty schools from around the Southeast will participate in the event in Cullowhee, with Tech being the lone Ohio Valley Conference representative.
The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday as the men's decathlon begins with the 100m dash. Friday concludes with the men's 10,000m run.
Saturday is slated to start with the remainder of the men's decathlon events at 10 a.m. with the first field event of the day - the men's shot put - set for 10:15 a.m. The meet concludes with the running of the women's and men's 4x400-meter relays at 5:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
