Bradford tops Golden Eagles, Tech places seventh at Samford
BIRMINGHMAM, Ala. – Junior Megan Bradford fired a final
round 73, Tech’s best score in the tournament, and the Golden
Eagle women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the
15-team Samford Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon.
After an opening round 79 on Monday, Bradford finished with a
one-over 73 to finish in a tie for sixth place individually at 152.
First day leader Ashley Spangler followed her 77 with an 80, and
placed in a tie for 21st place at 157.
Madison Denman was next for coach Brandy Stout’s team,
shooting rounds of 81 and 78 to finish tied for 27th place at 159.
The lineup also included Diana Carson (82-82) at 164 to tie for
48th place, and Carley Rhyne (86-83) in 64th place with a 169.
Jacksonville State came from two shots back to win the team title
with a 599 for the 36-hole contest. Samford slipped to second at
614, followed by Murray State (620), South Alabama (621) and
Birmingham Southern (623) to round out the top five.
Kennesaw State was next (625), followed by Tech (632), Troy (635),
Austin Peay (638), Belmont (645), Eastern Illinois (646),
Evansville (652, UAB (664), Western Kentucky (675) and Montevallo
(680).
The Golden Eagles will play at the Kennesaw State Invitational,
March 30-31.
