Golden Eagles conclude fall portion of schedule at Morehead State
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Like any other winter sport, the Tennessee
Tech rifle team splits its season between the fall and spring
semesters.
This fall, Tech finishes up on the road when they travel to take on
Morehead State in a dual competition. Last weekend, amongst all the
homecoming festivities, the Golden Eagles fell to Jacksonville
State at the Tech Rifle Range.
"We are working hard in practice," said head coach Steve Law. "The
guys, and lady, are still getting used to the electronic targeting
system. But come spring, we will be ready for the final stretch
before the OVC meet."
The Golden Eagles will at least have an advantage going into the
OVC as they serve as the host institution for the OVC
Championship.
"We haven't hosted in awhile," Law said. "It gives us a chance to
show off our renovated range to the entire conference."
But before that, the first spring competition will be the annual
Jim Newkirk Invitational. It is named after former Tech coach Jim
Newkirk, who led the Golden Eagles to three straight NCAA National
Championships in the 1980s.
