Anecdotes from athletes: check out Tech’s newest blogs

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --  Five new blogspots have been added to the Tennessee Tech athletics website this year, giving TTUsports.com some content with a more personal twist. Managed by either student-athletes or coaches, the blogs give fans a little bit of insight into what’s going on at Tech as the 2010-11 season gets underway.

The blogs are accessible via visiting the TTUsports.com homepage and clicking the Blogs graphic in the bottom right-hand corner. Links to each blog have also been embedded in the titles of each blog described below.

Senior Season Shoutouts - Senior soccer player Michelle Decker will post updates about the women’s soccer team as they progress through the season, as well as about her experiences as a Golden Eagle and her outlook on her time at Tech now that she is a senior.

From the Freshmen - On the other end of the spectrum, the soccer team will have two freshmen – Ellie Iaciofano and Taylor Hicks – blogging their thoughts on a season that is sure to be full of firsts for the newcomers. They will talk about their first milestones with Tech soccer and their outlook on the year from a freshman’s point of view.

Voice of Volleyball – Tennessee Tech’s newest addition to the volleyball staff, graduate assistant Kelsey Murphy (Clemson, ’10) will keep avid volleyball fans posted on the goings-on of the volleyball squad with her newest blog.

Newt’s Notes – A sophomore guard for the men’s basketball team and blogger extraordinaire, Charles Newton will be keeping fans in the loop during pre-season and beyond for the Golden Eagle basketball team. His new blog starts off with recounts of the team’s recent trip to the Dominican Republic through G.O. Ministries.

TTU Hoops – The longstanding blog for Tech men’s hoops has been linked to TTUsports.com so that fans can keep up with the antics of the Golden Eagle ballers on the regular.

Other active blogs on the website include Talkin’ with the Twins, featuring Kellie and Kylie Cook of women’s basketball, Inside TTU Hoops, updated by the women's basketball program, and Phone call from Minnesota managed by Sports Information Director Rob Schabert.
