October 22, 2010 TECH 3 Jacksonville State 1...... Great game today ladies and an amazing turnout! I am really proud of all the girls today, we pulled it together and came out on top! Tomorrow is out senior day picnic at 1:00pm. The girls are really looking forward to spending time with all the families. Sunday is our last game of the regular season and is also Senior Day and we take on Austin Peay at 2:00pm! If you are in town please come support us and lets finish with a bang. I love this team!!!!!October 20, 2010 Well, yesterday was the seniors last 6:00am workout...we think anyways. Friday and Sunday are our last opportunities to try and take a spot in the OVC tournament. Practice has been great so far this week. The girls were glad to see Emily back at the field after her ACL surgery that she had on Friday. For those fans who are wondering about her she is doing great, just in a lot of pain. We love you Em! Friday we take on Jacksonville state and Sunday Austin Peay. Sunday is SENIOR DAY SO COME CHEER ON ALL THE SENIORS AND THE REST OF THE GOLDEN EAGLES AT THEIR LAST HOME GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON! GOOOOOOO TECH!!!!
October 18,2010 WEll, we came out with a tie yesterday afternoon against EIU. It was a hard fought game that went into double overtime and it is the first time this season that we held on through both overtime periods. I am really proud of the girls for working so hard yesterday, we created a lot of opportunities and got unlucky for not putting another goal away. I am not sure where this puts us in the conference but I hope that we win the next two games and hope that it is enough to get us into conference play. Thank you to all the fans that came out and supported us. State Representative Ryan Williams was there with his family cheering us on as well as families from the YMCA soccer program. Thank you for showing us your support!
October 17, 2010 Today is our second game of the weekend. We are playing EIU today at 2:00pm. We need to come up with another win to complete our weekend. Tech athletics have been very successful with both football and volleyball winning their matches, we need to win today to sweep the weekend. The girls are looking forward to today's game, and seeing all the fans come out and support our team. GO TECH!!!
October 15, 2010 WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is all.
October 12, 2010 It has been a few days since I have blogged but I needed a little time to recover from the tough weekend that we had. Im recovered :) and ready to play this weekend. Friday we take on Southeast Missouri @ 3:30pm and Sunday we tackle Eastern Illinois @ 2:00pm! If you are in town for fall break please come and support us on Friday and Sunday! Not this weekend but the following weekend is SENIOR WEEKEND! Yes, I am a senior, as well as, Brooke, Jen, Kathryn, Ashley, and Taren. We have been through thick and thin together (literally). It has been a round four years for us with all the coaching changes and such so we really really really want to go out with a bang. WE NEED TO WIN THE REST OF OUR GAMES TO HOPEFULLY MAKE IT INTO THE OVC TOURNAMENT!!! COME SUPPORT US IF YOU CAN! GOOOOO TECH!
October 8, 2010 The teams just sitting in the hotel waiting to head to the field to play Murray State. The time on the website says 4:00 but the game is actually at 3:00pm if you planned on coming our listening online. We had a good little jog and stretch this morning and the girls are all ready to play. LETS GO TECH
October 7, 2010 We just made it to the hotel in Murray Kentucky about two hours ago. The bus ride here wasn't too bad. We watched Date Night and Zoolander. Both very funny movies so it made the ride go by fast. Were just hanging out in the hotel, waiting to go to dinner at 6:45. The girls seem to be ready to play tomorrow again Murray so hopefully we can come out being on top. I think some of the younger players are starting to realize how important it is to win in OVC conference play. Were going to come out ready to play with our hearts tomorrow and put some points up on the board. Looking forward to seeing all the families that are coming out to watch. Especially Julie's family (her younger sister plays for UT Martin so there will be some sibling revelry there). GO TECH!
October 6, 2010 Today is our last practice ofweek before we head to Murray this Thursday. Yesterdays practice was very different from our usual practices. Coach made a scavenger hunt for us to complete. We had 7 different places on campus that we had to run to, then take a picture of, and then run back to the field for our next clue. The seniors were designated to pick teams and off we went. I have never been so mad at our campus while walking to school in the morning! But when I thought about it, I was just happy that I don't attend a school like Samford where it is all hills! The girls did a great job and we had a little fun while doing it. One of our girls mapped the run out later on when sh she said we ran about 5.5 miles (nice warm up for our practice :) ). Anyways practice today will be a little lighter in order to prepare for our game on Friday against Murray. We are hoping to grab two wins this weekend so please come and support us families if you can and if not you can catch game online. OVC!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 4, 2010 Again, another hard fought weekend but we did not come out successful. We played EKU Sunday afternoon and came up short of a victory. Our first half of play was beautiful. We had the ball for the majority of the first half, and we created a ton of opportunities that we could just not finish. The second half was a complete 180 of the first. We could not keep the ball and we had no urgency to score after being scored on in the second half. Our record is now 0-2 in OVC play. We had the day off today to recover our legs but practice will resume tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for everyone who is supporting us, it really helps to know that we have support behind us. GO TECH!
October 2, 2010 The team suffered another loss last night in our opener to the OVC conference. We struggled to keep the ball and couldn't sting passes together. The Morehead girls came out to play and it just seemed like they wanted it more then we did. We are now 0-1 in conference play. Not off to the greatest start but we have another game on Sunday against Eastern Kentucky. This is going to be another tough game so all the girls need to come out to play as a TEAM! Besides the game we are currently in study hall so I hope I don't get in trouble for blogging right now. Our girls had a great team GPA last semester. I think it was a 3.7 or something close to that. We have great success in the classroom, we just need to achieve the same status on the field. Tomorrow is another day and another OVC game. TIME TO G.A.S LADIES!
October 1, 2010 It's the start of the new month and a start of a new season!! Today is our first game of the OVC conference. The team woke up early this morning for a jog a stretch outside the hotel in Morehead Kentucky. Our game today starts at 7:00pm. Were just sitting in the hotel right now staying off our feet and trying to mentally prepare for the game ahead. For those fans and parents who cannot make it to the game, I believe you can go onto the Tech sports website and see the stats. For those parents that are coming we are looking forward to seeing you tonight! LETS GOOOO LADIES!!
September 27, 2010 It was SUPER cold today! I think being away from the Canadian winters for so long has made me a baby when it comes to being outside in the cold. Besides being a little cold, practice went well. Were one day closer to our new season in the OVC. LETS GO LADIES!
September 26, 2010 The team was given the day off today to recover from our overtime loss to Radford yesterday afternoon. It was another hard loss for the girls and I know some of us are still shocked about the result. For some reason our team has trouble finishing the game in regulation play when we dominate the whole game. Hopefully next weekend we can finish and win games in 90 minutes. I think Coach is going to have a tough week of practice for us (to be expected) in order to prepare for the weekend OVC conference opener. Time to get ready girls! Let's Go Tech!
September 25, 2010 Today's game against Radford was another hard fought loss. Unfortunately Radford scored the winning goal with about 6 minutes left in the first over time. This is our third loss in overtime this year. Next weekend is the start of a whole new season for Tech. We kick off our OVC season with Morehead and Eastern Kentucky next weekend. Thank you for all the fans that came out and supported us today. Hopefully next time the refs will worry about the game and not about what you guys are yelling ;) Parents and fans we will see you next weekend!
September 23, 2010 Today is the first day of fall and it seems hotter then the hottest day of summer! We have usual practice today at 3:30 and it is going to be a hot one. I'm looking forward to practice today since we worked on some new things during yesterdays practice. Our last game before conference is a day and a half away. Hopefully we start a new "culture" on Saturday. For the team you know what I mean and for the fans you will find out shortly. The soccer girls will be wearing out TTU Soccer shirts tomorrow to promote our game so if you see us walk by give us a shout. Hopefully see you on Saturday!!! T-T-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
September 21, 2010 Hey Everyone! Just wanted to check in with everyone. We don't have practice today because we are volunteering at the YMCA. We are going to be playing soccer with the kids and just teaching them some different skills. This is something that we do every year and it is a great experience to just play with the kids. They are so thankful that were there to just play with them. The team is also still helping out at Park View School. The girls pick one day out of the week to go into the school for an hour to help the students and the teachers. Just a reminder that we have out game this Saturday September 25th at 1:00pm. The time changed from 2:00pm to 1:00pm!! So make sure that if your planning on coming to be there for 1:00pm! Wear Purple! This is our last game until the OVC starts! LET GO TECH! September 20, 2010 Hey TTU Fans!! Sorry I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks, it has been very busy trying to get back into the routine of school again. We are on week four now and I think everyone is just starting to get the hang of everything. We have had a few games since I last blogged. The results were good and bad. Our next game is this Saturday at 1:00pm. The time was changed so if you are planning to come the game is now at 1:00pm! Wear purple if you are planning to attend! Hopefully we have a good crowd, we need all the support that we can get. I think the girls are ready to turn things around and capture another win. This is our last game before we start OVC Conference play! COME OUT AND SUPPORT TTU SOCCER!!!!!!
September 2, 2010 The soccer team got to sleep in a little bit today... Only if you didn't have an 8:00am class. If you're a senior that usually doesn't happen anymore ;). Today was my day to go to Parkview Public School and help out in the classroom. It's such a great feeling to know that you have contributed to a student's success in the classroom. Coach Brizard set the whole thing up and it really is a great opportunity for the team to bond with a local school. The kids really enjoy us coming. As soon as they see us walk up to the building you can just hear them all say "they're coming!", and we never leave without getting a couple hugs from the kids. Aside from that today is our last practice before our big game against the SEC powerhouse Vanderbilt. The girls are really getting excited to play and we are anxious to leave on Friday. The bus leave Friday afternoon at 4:30pm. Also, Sunday afteroon is Cram the Complex at the Tech soccer field! We are trying to break our attendence record so come out and support the team!!!! GO TECH!!!
September 1, 2010 Woke up this morning at about 5:40am for 6:00am workouts. I forgot how hard it was to get up so early but all the girls were awake and ready to workout. Last night was a fun time at the Volleyball game! Brooke and Hoffee dominated the half time show by catching 10 balls in Jens XXXL sweat pants! I will post the video for everyone to see it was a show. We get back to training today again at 3:30pm. OVC! OVC! OVC!
August 31, 2010 Today was our first practice of the week in preparation for our game against Vanderbilt this Friday at 7:00pm. Last year we played Vandy and came up short with a 4-1 loss. The girls looked good in practice today with some technical work, some 7 vs 7, and ended with some finishing. The soccer girls are on their way to cheer on the TTU Volleyball Team tonight who take on Belmont at the Hoop at 7:00pm! GO TECH!!
