Holtzhausen, O'Brien earned second straight OVC honor
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Whoever said that good things happen in
pairs is right. For the second straight week, sophomores Dean
O'Brien and Kelly Holtzhausen have been named the OVC Women's and
Men's Tennis players of the week.
This time they share their honors. O'Brien shares his with Alex Das
Izquierdo of Eastern Kentucky while Holtzhausen shares her with
Alexandra Sitnikova of the Colonels.
"Dean and Kelly continue to play at their best," said coach Dan
Silverstein. "They are true leaders on the court and on our
teams."
O'Brien picked up wins at Jacksonville State and Austin Peay, both
in straight sets to improve his record this spring to 12-1. This is
the third OVC Player of the Week honor in a row for O'Brien, who
earned All-OVC First Team honors last season.
Holtzhausen picked up three win in helping Tech go 2-1 last week in
OVC action. She won in straight sets over Southeast Missouri and
followed that up on the road the next day with a 6-2, 6-3 win over
defending OVC Player of the Year, Viviane Mirani of Jacksonville
State. She then also hit the road for her third match in three days
and downed Austin Peay.
