Tennessee Tech Men's Basketball Game Notes
The Golden Eagles were victorious 82-74 at Southern Indiana last Saturday, grabbing their fifth win on the road this season and snapping a two-game losing skid. Tech has won four of the last six games with a season-long three-game winning streak to begin February.
LAST GAME
JaJuan Nicholls scored 15 points, and Tennessee Tech placed five players in double figures. Saturday afternoon, the Golden Eagles pulled away late for an 82-74 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Southern Indiana at Liberty Arena. Tennessee Tech (11-16, 6-10 OVC) shot 54.4% from the field and outscored Southern Indiana 47-42 in the second half snap a two-game losing skid and grabbing a series split against USI. C.J. McPherson also scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Mekhi Cameron added 15 points, Ty Owens chipped in 13, and Dani Pounds had 14 points and nine rebounds to round out the Golden Eagles' balanced attack.
Tech led 35-32 at halftime after closing the opening period on a 10-3 spurt. Cameron buried a 3-pointer in the final minute of the half, giving the Golden Eagles a three-point lead at the break. Southern Indiana (5-21, 2-14) battled back and briefly regained the lead midway through the second half. After the Screaming Eagles went ahead 50-45, Tech answered with a 7-0 run, highlighted by a Cameron 3-pointer and a transition layup by McPherson, to seize a 52-50 advantage.
GOLDEN SCORERS
Cameron leads all Golden Eagles with 11.4 points per game over 27 contests for 309 total points this season. Nicholls leads the Golden Eagles in shooting percentage, making 63.9 percent (117-183) from the field to lead the team, and if that trend held with over 200 shot attempts, he would lead the OVC in field goal percentage.

OPPONENT NOTES
The Cougars dropped a 74-56 decision to UT Martin Saturday, which snapped a four-game winning streak. SIUE is now 5-5 when trailing at halftime. The Cougars knocked down a season-high 13 three-pointers against the Skyhawks. SIUE's eight true road wins are a new Division I program record for road wins in a season. The Cougars scored a 68-55 win Jan. 17 at SEMO. SIUE held a 22-point halftime lead at SEMO, its biggest against a Division I opponent this year.
