Tennessee Tech men’s basketball hits the road for a quick-turnaround matchup at USC Upstate on Wednesday.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Tennessee Tech men's basketball hits the road for a quick turnaround matchup at USC Upstate on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT. The game is available on ESPN+ and can be heard on 106.1 The Eagle.
The Golden Eagles (2-3, 0-0) take on the USC Upstate Spartans (3-2, 0-0 Big South) after falling 61-59 to West Georgia on Monday at Eblen Center. This marks the first matchup in series history between Tennessee Tech and USC Upstate.
Most recently, Dani Pounds led all scorers with a season-high 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field as Tech made a furious comeback but dropped its first home game of the season 61-59 to West Georgia.

GAME NOTES
In the matchup with West Georgia, Pounds shot 83.3 percent from the field and made all seven of his free-throw attempts for the season high in points, while grabbing seven rebounds.
TTU trailed by 14 in the contest, but an 11-0 run put the Golden Eagles right in contention. The Golden Eagles outshot UWG 40.8% to 32.8%, were outrebounded by two (38-36), scored more points in the paint 36-20, and recorded more points off the bench (25-17).
JaJuan Nicholls added nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from off the bench, making 3-of-3 from the free throw line, for the second leading scorer against West Georgia on Monday.
The Golden Eagles have outscored opponents 79.6 to 67.0 with a +12.6-scoring margin (398 to 335) so far this season. Tech has held a higher shooting percentage than its opponents (48.5 to 36.8) and outrebounded its opponents 41.0 to 34.8 (+6.2 margin) this season.
Scoring leader Mekhi Cameron has averaged 13.0 points per game, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field. He is one of four Golden Eagles averaging in double-digits from the field, joined by Nicholls (11.4), Brandon Muntu (10.6), and Dani Pounds (10.2).
It has been a team effort on the glass, with three players averaging over five rebounds a game: Nicholls (5.4 rpg), Pounds (5.4 rpg), and Jacobe Whitted (5.2 rpg). While Pounds and Nicholls lead the team with 27 total rebounds, Whitted is second on the team with 26 rebounds.
Guard Ty Owens has dished out a team-leading 25 assists, making him the only player on the roster with 20-plus assists so far this season.
CAREER MILESTONES
Ja'Quavian Florence is approaching the 400-career rebound mark, with 392 boards in his collegiate career over 102 games played. Florence has also scored over 1,100 points in his collegiate career (1,147), marking the most points scored by a single player on the roster. He's averaged 11.2 points per game during his collegiate career.
Grant Slatten is closing in on 300-career points with 289 over 66 games in his collegiate career. He has made 96 shots as he approaches 100 made baskets during his career.
Brandon Muntu is also closing in on 300-career points, sitting at 277 total points through 43 collegiate games played. Muntu has averaged 10.6 points per contest since joining the Golden Eagles.
USC UPSTATE NOTES
The USC Upstate Spartans have three players averaging in double-digit scoring, with Karmani Gregory leading the team with 15.6 points per game (48.3%, 29-60 FG), Carmelo Adkins is second on the team with 14.8 points per contest (50.0%, 23-46 FG), Mason Bendinger is third with 12.2 points per game (50.9%, 27-53 FG), and Learic Davis is third on the squad with 10.4 ppg (57.6%, 19-33 FG).
The Spartans are 3-2 overall with wins over Fresno State (W, 67-66), South Virginia (W, 105-46), and Bob Jones (W, 114-53), and losses to Cal Baptist (L, 75-87), and UNCW (L, 60-73).
USC Upstate is outscoring opponents 84.2-to-65.0 per game, which is a +19.2-scoring margin (421 to 325). The Spartans hold an edge in shooting percentage (49.3% to 39.4% on the season.
