The Golden Eagles are on the heels of an 88-84 victory over USC Upstate a week ago, led by four players in double figures, including Mekhi Cameron (20 pts), Dani Pounds (16 pts), Ja'Quavian Florence (13 pts), and JaJuan Nicholls (11 pts) in the four-point win. It marked the first road win of the season for Tech, improving to 3-3 overall on the year.
A new test awaits Tech at Kentucky, which is No. 19 in the nation, and owns a 5-0 advantage in the head-to-head series.
Mekhi Cameron continues to be dynamic for the Golden Eagles, leading the team in scoring for the third time this season with 20 points against USC Upstate. Jacobe Whitted led the team with eight rebounds, as the Golden Eagles won the battle of the boards 42-29 over the Spartans a week ago.
Cameron was joined in double figures scoring by Dani Pounds (16 pts, 10-10 FT), Ja'Quavian Florence 13 pts (4-of-9 FG), and JaJuan Nicholls with 11 points (5-of-8 FG). Cameron is averaging a career-high 14.6 points per contest with a career-high 50.9 FG percentage, including a career-high 40.0 3FG percentage. His 20 points were one point shy of his career high 21 vs. Georgia (11/4/24).
