Tech Beach falls in first day of OVC weekend in Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA – Ohio Valley Conference preseason favorite Chattanooga took the first match against the Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team on Friday during the first day of the OVC Play Day weekend, but the Golden Eagles wouldn’t go away empty-handed as Tech picked up a point against Lindenwood in the nightcap. Tech (2-15) continues the OVC meet on Saturday as it takes on Eastern Illinois at 11 AM and UT Martin at 5 PM.

CHATTANOOGA – Ohio Valley Conference preseason favorite Chattanooga took the first match against the Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team on Friday during the first day of the OVC Play Day weekend, but the Golden Eagles wouldn't go away empty-handed as Tech picked up a point against Lindenwood in the nightcap.
Tech (2-15) continues the OVC meet on Saturday as it takes on Eastern Illinois at 11 AM and UT Martin at 5 PM.
Audrey Kilgore and Alanah Craig took Chattanooga's Ava Goryl and Madeline McCabe to the third set in the No. 5-matchup, falling 21-13 in the opener, won the second 21-17, but fell in the tiebreaker 15-3.
At No. 1, MK Roberts and Vivian RoBards gave McKenna Faychak and Maddie Lecik a battle, going 21-18 in both sets as the Mocs came away with the victory. Julia Lawrence and Corina Vale topped Tech's Kaesha Walter and Jordyn Hamlin 21-12 and 21-8.
Kyana Gabriel and Cristina Rotola was upended by Ansley Gulledge and Sydney Jackwin for a 21-12 and 21-4 decision at No. 3, then Taylor Clark and Ashli McKenney defeated Bailey Poppe and Piper Jones 21-18 and 21-15 at No. 4.
Caimen Cothron and Madison LaRue won the exhibition battle against Maggie Kamp and Jolee McLain 22-20 and 21-15.
Roberts and Robards prevented the shutout against Lindenwood as the Tech pair went to incredible lengths to secure a 31-29 win in the first set. After the Lions' Nyah Wilson and Susanna Beretti took the second set 21-12, Roberts and RoBards were able to claim a 15-9 victory in the tiebreaker to give the Golden Eagles a point.
Abby Jacobs and Annalie McWhorter defeated Walter and Hamlin 21-11 and 21-9 at No. 2, while Audrey Sheppard and Gabby Belcher topped Jones and Gabriel at No. 3 with a 21-19, 21-13 result.
At No. 4, Lexie Schauffler and Katie Bockhorst won over Poppe and Rotola 21-16 and 21-11, while Myah Hough and Morgan Willis defeated Kilgore and Craig 21-14 and 22-10 at No. 5. Lexi Menne and Dixie Farish topped Zoe Mish and Kamp in the exhibition battle, 21-16 and 21-14.
