LOUISVILLE, Tenn. – Ohio Valley Conference play starts off with a bang on Thursday as the Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team welcomes in Morehead State to the K2 Volleyball facility for the second of the Golden Eagles' two home meets this season.
First serve is scheduled for 10 AM with a second match after the conclusion of the first.
Morehead State has had a tough go of it so far in the 2026 campaign, posting a 2-9 record so far. The Eagles went 1-3 at the Grand Sands Tournament, falling 3-2 to Austin Peay and Tusculum, defeated Liberty 4-1, then dropped a 5-0 match to Eastern Kentucky.
Following a dual match loss to Wingate by identical 3-2 scores, MSU went 1-3 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational last weekend, dropping 5-0 decisions to South Florida and Coastal Carolina, fell 4-1 again to the Chanticleers, then swept Salem College.
Morehead State had two matches scheduled against College of Charleston on Monday, but only the first match was played due to weather with the Eagles falling 4-1.
While the Eagles have been fighting for wins, MSU has seen success at the No. 2-spot as the pair of M.E. Hargan and Shea Hefner have a 5-4 mark for the squad's best result so far this season. The duo of Addie Freed and Riley McCloskey are 3-6 overall, including a 2-5 record at No. 5.
Hargan and Hefner both are 7-4 individually with Haran also picking up a 2-0 record with Bella Marita at No. 1 and Hefner combining for a 2-0 mark with Sarah Heath at No. 2.
It's a similar scenario for the Golden Eagles as they enter Thursday's conference opener with a 2-11 record, losing in four straight after Tech's 4-1 win over Salem College this past weekend at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
Since then, it's been four straight 5-0 losses to Coastal Carolina, South Florida and twice to Colorado Mesa on Tuesday.
The pair of Vivian RoBards and MK Roberts still has the best record with a 3-6 mark at No. 1, while Maggie Kamp, Zoe Mish, RoBards and Roberts all have three victories on the season.
Following Thursday's conference opener, the Golden Eagles will travel to Chattanooga next weekend as they take on the Mocs, Lindenwood, Eastern Illinois and UT Martin in the first of two OVC Play Day events.
