Stallings Sets Sights on Shootout
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Former Golden Eagle great Scott Stallings arrived in Naples, Fla. on short notice this week to compete in the Franklin Templeton Shootout at the Tiburón Golf Club. He is taking the place of J. B. Holmes, who withdrew due to medical reasons, and will be paired with Kenny Perry.
According to his blog, Life on the Road, Stallings received a call around 5 p.m. on Monday informing him that he had been selected to play in the Shootout. In its 23rd year, the event features two 12-man teams playing a mix of modified alternate shot, better ball, and scramble. The Shootout is scheduled to begin Friday, but tee times have yet to be determined.
Stallings, the 2011 Greenbrier Classic champion, is among the most decorated TTU athletes of all time. He earned the title of All-American and was a two-time OVC Player of the Year during his tenure at Tennessee Tech.
The first round of the competition will be televised on the Golf Channel from 2-5 p.m. CST on Friday. Saturday and Sunday rounds will be aired on NBC at 3 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
