BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech setter Jordan Karlen kept her stellar campaign rolling over the weekend and the Ohio Valley Conference took notice Monday afternoon, announcing the junior as the league's Setter of the Week.
The Janesville, Wis. native was selected as OVC's Setter of the Week for the second straight week, the fifth time this season, and the 11th time in her career after averaging 11.11 assists per set at the league's No. 1 team in Southeast Missouri. In the team's two matches in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Karlen tacked on 3.11 digs, 0.67 service aces, and 0.67 blocks per set to help Tech to a key road split.
In the team's five-set affair on Friday, the veteran tallied 50 helpers with four kills, three aces, seven digs, and three blocks. She turned things up in the team's four-set win on Saturday, again doling out 50 assists while mixing in three more aces, three more blocks, and an eye-popping 21 digs for her 13th double-double of the year.
Karlen ranks first in program history with her 11 OVC Setter of the Week honors, sporting five more than any other Golden Eagle. She also boasts 14 total weekly awards from the league in her career, having earned a trio of Freshman of the Week nods on her way to OVC Freshman of the Year in 2022. Those 14 honors also represent the most by a Golden Eagle for a career.
Tech returns to Cookeville for a four-game home stand, starting with a pair of matches in the Eblen Center against SIUE. The purple and gold kicks off the weekend with a 6:00 p.m. CT tilt on Friday, Nov. 8 and will cap the weekend with a 2:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, Nov. 9.
