BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second straight week, Tennessee Tech is walking away with an Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honor as senior Addison Abell was named the recipient of this week's award on Monday.
The awards are nominated and voted on by the conference's softball media relations contacts.
In three appearances this week, Abell collected a 0.51 earned run average and a 0.88 WHIP with strong performances against Austin Peay and Lindenwood.
Against the Lions, Abell pushed a no-hit bid into the top of the seventh inning before Anna Sanders broke it up with a leadoff single in Tech's 5-0 victory in game one for the complete-game shutout. Abell combined with Emily York in Sunday's five-inning 8-0 victory for a shutout, going 3 2/3 innings for the victory with zero hits or runs allowed, walking four and striking out one.
Ashley Capelouto won the OVC Player of the Week honor and Emily York shared the OVC Pitcher of the Week award last week. Monday's award is the second for Abell since joining the Golden Eagles.
Tech returns to action on Tuesday as it heads to Knoxville to take on No. 1 Tennessee for the first of seven straight road games for the Golden Eagles, including conference series at Morehead State and Western Illinois.
First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6 PM ET/5 CT.
