Tech Softball heads to Chattanooga Wednesday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team takes on its final non-conference opponent of the season Wednesday as the Golden Eagles take on Chattanooga. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. Central. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team takes on its final non-conference opponent of the season Wednesday as the Golden Eagles take on Chattanooga.
First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. Central. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
The last time the two teams faced each other back on March 25 in Cookeville, the Mocs took a 1-0 victory, scoring the game's only run in the top of the third as Olivia Lipari pushed across Lexi Cooley on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.
Payton Wagner and Addison Abell had strong outings in the game as Wagner allowed just the one run on three hits over the first three frames. Abell threw the final four innings with three walks on her tally.
Taylor Long picked up the win as she went the distance, throwing a one-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts. Ella Bishop had Tech's lone hit of the game.
Chattanooga currently stands in first place in the Southern Conference with a 13-4 mark in the league, while compiling a 36-12 record on the season. The Mocs have won their last four games and nine of their last 10.
As a team, Chattanooga is batting .300 with 229 runs scored and 205 RBI with 110 extra-base hits with 64 doubles, 15 triples and 31 home runs. Lipari leads the team in average (.372), doubles (15) and RBI (37), while Acelynn Sellers (.290) has eight home runs.
In the circle, the Mocs have a 2.56 cumulative ERA, walking 162 and striking out 371 with opponents hitting .209. Peja Goold (21-5) has a 1.45 ERA, while Long (12-2) has a 2.51 ERA.
The Golden Eagles (16-32) are hitting .265 as a team with Abby Shoulders leading the way with a .319 average with 31 runs scored and 15 RBI. Olivia Evans (.316), Sydney Kirby (.312) and Abbee Klinefelter (.303) are all hitting above .300, while Kirby has 28 RBI and Klinefelter 26. Makayli Harris has three of Tech's nine home runs and has 25 RBI.
The Golden Eagles have a cumulative 3.79 ERA, with Wagner posting the top ERA at 2.88, while Emily York has the best record with an 8-8 mark and a 3.30 ERA. York and Lainey Fitzgerald (4-10, 4.22 ERA) have combined for 137 strikeouts.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Golden Eagles will close out the regular season at home against Morehead State with a berth in the OVC tournament on the line.
