Tech tied for sixth through one round of Bryan National Collegiate
BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed the first round of the Bryan National Collegiate Sunday afternoon, as well as the first nine holes of round two at the Champions Course at Bryan Park.

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed the first round of the Bryan National Collegiate Sunday afternoon, as well as the first nine holes of round two at the Champions Course at Bryan Park.
With inclement weather anticipated in the Browns Summit area on Tuesday, it was decided to play 27 holes on both Sunday and Monday to wrap up the competition. The Golden Eagles concluded the first round tied for sixth overall among the 13 teams in competition, sporting a 297 to match the efforts of High Point and William & Mary.
Host UNCG led the way with a 9-under 279, building a 12-stroke lead over Queens of Charlotte. The Spartans' Symon Balbin led all individuals with a 5-under 67.
A trio of Golden Eagles paced the team's effort in the first round, all tying for 26th with scores of 2-over 74. Sophomore Haden Maxwell racked up three birdies in his first go around the course while senior Mark McDearman tallied one birdie with 14 pars. Junior Jackson Skeen turned in a whopping 16 pars for his first round.
Just one shot back of his teammates was Anders Larson, contributing a 3-over 75 on the day to tie for 36th among the 85 participants. The sophomore carded a trio of birdies on the day.
Rounding out the Tech lineup, Alexander Bassel concluded the day with an 82. Competing as an individual, senior Sean Anderson produced a pair of birdies on his way to an 80.
The purple and gold will complete both the second and third rounds of action Monday, kicking off the day with split tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
