Maxwell, Larson named 2023-24 GCAA Cobalt Golf All-American Scholars
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the ninth time in the past 10 years, at least one member of the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was named a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the ninth time in the past 10 years, at least one member of the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was named a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
A total of 531 NCAA Division I student-athletes from 180 schools earned 2023-24 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors, including Golden Eagles Haden Maxwell and Anders Larson. The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
The Golden Eagle duo was among a group of 15 golfers from the Ohio Valley Conference included in the 531 Division I players chosen throughout the country. The pair of sophomores also helped lead Tech to its first OVC Tournament crown since 1990 and the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Maxwell was selected for the honor for the first time after leading the Golden Eagles by playing in all 29 rounds of the season. The Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native finished with a 74.03 scoring average for the year, earning one medalist honor during the regular season before finishing as the runner-up at the OVC Championships to earn OVC All-Tournament Team accolades. He ended the year with a 3.24 GPA while working on his degree in finance.
Larson also earned the honor for the first time following a great season on the links. The Pine Island, Minn. native paced the purple and gold with a 73.83 scoring average during the year, earning one All-Tournament honor while competing in 24 of the team's 29 rounds of action. He posted a 3.75 GPA while working towards his degree in business management.
