McDearman, Sutton, Womack named 2021-22 GCAA Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the eighth straight year, at least one member of the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the eighth straight year, at least one member of the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
A total of 447 NCAA Division I student-athletes from 158 schools earned 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors, including Golden Eagles Mark McDearman, Nick Sutton, and Bracton Womack. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, under 78.0 in Division II, under 79.0 in Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, or under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
The Golden Eagle trio was among a group of 16 golfers from the Ohio Valley Conference included in the 447 Division I players chosen throughout the country.
McDearman collected the honor for the first time in his career after competing in all 24 rounds of action for the purple and gold during the 2021-22 campaign. The sophomore posted one top-10 finish and ranked fifth on the squad in scoring average with a mark of 74.33. He finished the year with a 3.46 GPA while working towards his degree in finance.
Sutton also competed in all 24 rounds of play during the season, pacing the Tech squad with an incredible 71.88 scoring average. He captured medalist honors once, a runner-up finish, and one more All-Tournament nod during the year. A native of Matthews, N.C., he excelled in the classroom with a 3.36 GPA working towards his psychology degree.
Rounding out the Tech recipients was the veteran Womack, who earned the honor after taking part in 21 rounds and tying for the second-best scoring average on the team with a 72.76. He collected two All-Tournament honors while boasting on the year. The McMinnville, Tenn. native wrapped up the year with a 3.33 GPA while working on his master's degree.
