Tech nabs second straight top-three finish, ties for third at Georgia State Invitational
DULUTH, Ga. – For the second time in as many weeks, the Tennessee Tech men’s golf team took home a top-three finish in tournament action, tying for third at the Georgia State Invitational at Berkeley Hills Country Club Tuesday afternoon.

DULUTH, Ga. – For the second time in as many weeks, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team took home a top-three finish in tournament action, tying for third at the Georgia State Invitational at Berkeley Hills Country Club Tuesday afternoon.
Also representing the team's third top-five showing of the fall in as many events, Tech delivered a strong third and final round of 285 to finish at 861 and draw with tournament host Georgia State. Wright State erupted for a 275 on the day, winning the event by 10 strokes at 846 overall. Oakland's Thomas Giroux took home individual medalist honors, shooting 204 for the week.
For the purple and gold, it was Bracton Womack delivering his third consecutive sub-par round of the tournament, turning in a 2-under 70 behind five birdies. The senior tied for sixth in the field of 87 golfers, finishing with a season-best score of 210.
Tying his teammate for the team's low round of the day at 2-under 70 was Chance Taylor, producing a trio of birdies and 14 pars total. Completing play with a 215, the junior tied for 16th overall. Jackson Skeen was next on the leaderboard for the Golden Eagles, firing a 1-under 71 with five birdies to tie for 27th. He finished two shots back of Taylor with a 217.
Mark McDearman completed his week with three birdies as part of a 2-over 74, tying for 36th in the field. The youngster posted a 219, just two shots behind Skeen. Rounding out the Tech lineup for the event was Nick Sutton. The sophomore tied for 62nd after producing a 77 for a final score of 226.
Tech returns to the links for the final tournament of the fall Monday, Oct. 25. The Golden Eagles will head to Chattanooga for the Battle at Black Creek, hosted by Chattanooga at Black Creek Golf Club.
