Golden Eagle basketball team to hold open practice Saturday
Fans can get an early look at the men's basketball team Saturday when coach Mike Sutton's squad holds an 11 a.m. practice open to the public. It makes Saturday a triple-header, with the practice between the Homecoming parade and football game.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Fans can get an early look at the men's
basketball team Saturday when coach Mike Sutton's squad holds an 11
a.m. practice open to the public. It makes Saturday a
triple-header, with the practice between the Homecoming parade and
football game.
The team has been hard at work year-round with off-season
workouts, and has been on the practice floor as a team since Oct.
16. Tech’s five newcomers have been making strides to get
themselves ready for the tip-off of the 2009-10 season.
“Those young guys are going to have to play,” Sutton
said. “In our league a lot of times young guys are going to
have to come in and play as freshmen.”
The Golden Eagles will host an exhibition against Bluefield
College on Nov. 5 before opening the regular season on the road at
Minnesota on Nov. 13. Tech will play its first home game on Nov. 23
against Oakland University.
